Differences in Merle and Roan:
Merle gene dilutes color in areas that ARE NOT white. Black becomes blue and Chocolate becomes tan. Merle color is seen at birth. Many merle pups have a partial or full blue eye, maybe 2 blue eyes. Sometimes a freckle in the eye. Merle pups can be parti (areas of white fur) – these areas stay white!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mocha – 4 months with full coat, then summer cut. Still a chocolate dog but more buff showing now!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roan gene adds tiny areas of the darker color IN THE WHITE AREAS. A pup is born looking like a parti with white areas mixed with color. As the pup get to 4 weeks old, the white areas show small freckles of color. As they further age, the white areas are now fully mixed with the darker color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cockers are one of the most beautiful breeds of dogs.  Their long coats can be absolutely spectacular looking, but do require care.  All breeds of puppies are cute, but Cockers remain cute all of their lives.  Cockers love people and are very devoted pets.  Almost all Cockers love to be with people, and are usually happiest if they are laying in your lap giving you\u2019re their cute cocker eyes.  All you have to do is watch that tail wag, and you can tell when a Cocker is happy…  That is part of the reason why cockers tails are docked, they are constantly wagging them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We feel that the temperament of your pet is as important as it\u2019s health.  All of our babies are held and loved, like our adult dogs are.  We strongly encourage you to come visit your baby, to play with it, hold it, start the bonding process before it is ready to go home.  Dogs use the power of scent to determine friend or foe, and are much more comfortable leaving their litter mates at 8 weeks when they go home with someone whom they are familiar with.  All of our dogs love visitors, as long as you scratch their bellies and back while you are here!  It is easy to see they are loved pets, not angry or scared dogs locked up everyday.  Seeing the temperament of our adults can give you an idea of how your puppy will act when it comes home with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cockers respond easily to voice commands and house train easily with the use of a crate.  Check out our link to helpful hints to get more information on the correct way to crate train your new puppy.  If done correctly, the crate will become their home sweet home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several health issues that “go with the breed”.  You might get lucky and get a Cocker with absolutely perfect health, but if you’re going to get in to Cockers you need to be aware of the chance that your Cocker might deal with one or more of these common Cocker health issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
